The Client: A leading financial services firm
The Challenges
Train employees in four offices across the US in a wide array of technologies,
including Angular, React, SharePoint, Java, Ansible, R, and Python programming.
- Some employees could not be away from the office for more than half a day for training
- Data scientists at the firm had highly specialized needs for specific topics in Python and R data science programming
The Solution
- Met with department managers and the head of technical learning to custom tailor classes to the
students' prior experience, specific tools, and goals
- For R and Python data science topics, constructed a series of two-hour, hands-on seminars on
specific topics followed by an hour of "office hours" with the instructor where attendees could
get help with specific problems
- Reviewed learner feedback and used this to further improve and customize each class with each delivery
- Prior to March 2020, delivered the training at multiple US sites and iteratively refined the curriculum
with each delivery based on learner feedback
- In 2020, redesigned the format and curriculum of the training for successful online delivery to
learners distributed geographically and working at home
